Report on Leadership Training for Members of Young Urban Women

Introduction:
Leadership training aims to empower young women with essential leadership skills, providing them with the tools to become influential changemakers in their communities. Through this program, they can develop self-confidence, effective communication and problem-solving abilities, enabling them to take charge of their lives and advocate for meaningful social and economic improvement. Our goal is to support and boost their confidence. In our society, every woman and girls face many challenges and by fostering leadership qualities, we aim to address these issues.

Objective:
- To develop leadership quality, decision making and problem-solving skill.
- To empower individuals for effective advocacy.
- To raise awareness on legal rights and women rights.
Narration:

On the date of June27th 2024 a one-day leadership training program was organized for the Young Urban Women (YUW) BY ActionAid Association in collaboration with CCWD at- Redcross Bhawan in Bhubaneswar. The trainer of this training session is Mr. Dola Gobinda Dash, a state level trainer, Mr. Sadashiv Swain, Secretary of CCWD, And Mr. Suvendu Kumar Ray, the Sr. Program lead of ActionAid Association.
The training was started with the warm welcome by Ms. Saraswoti Parida (Community Trainer)

Mr. Sadashiv Swain (Secretary of CCWD) Shared the objective of the training program was to educate and identify inherent talents as well as provide a platform for the development of leadership qualities.
Mr. Suvendu Kumar Ray (Sr. Program lead of ActionAid Association) Shared main aim of this training is how women are empowering and develop their leadership quality and they can develop self-confidence. Also shared on Articulate, Behavior and Communication (ABC) is most important for leader.
Mr. Dola Gobinda Dash (state level trainer) The training was started with a prayer and then introduction of the YUW unique way,

The trainer gave animal card to everyone who have same animal card they are interact with each other.
Then the trainer divided all the YUW members in into four groups and gave four topics to four group
Group 1: – Name- Shakti (Power)
Topic- What problems are growing for women in our region?
- Not leaving women out side
- Boys teasing girls on road
- Not giving importance to women’s decisions-making in the family
- Dowry harassment
- Excessive physical stress
- Women illiteracy
- Child marriage
- Domestic violence
- Not equal pay for equal work
- Female fetus killing
- Sexual harassment in workplace
- Anemia

Group 2: – Name- Chesta (Try)
Topic-In the next five year what should be done to make our community women friendly community.
- With in five years, women will have minimal 10th, 12th education.
- The YUWF should be well run in the next five year.
- Child marriage is to be end in the next five year.
- We will stop violence of women.
- Community toilet should be female friendly.
- To aware community people on government scheme.
- To give self-defense training to all women.
- To give respect to unpaid care work women and understand their value.
- To aware community people on emergency help line number.
- To ensure giving equal importance to women decision-making in the family and community.
- To aware about Anemia and importance of iron tablet and calcium tablet

Group 3: – Name- Women’s Power
Topic- What are the qualities of a leader?
- A leader must be committed to the responsibility you have taken.
- You need to make good use of position power.
- A leader should have the qualities of education, tolerance, cooperation, discipline and punctuality.
- A leader able to understand people problems and solve them.
- Everyone should be treated equally without any discrimination.
- Efforts must always be made for the betterment of the society.
- It necessary to advance himself and cooperate to other.
- A leader must have subject knowledge.
- To solve problem must have to need proper discussion.
- A leader needs to help eliminate unemployment.

Group 4: – Name- Asha (Hope)
Topic- What things are responsible for the problem and what should be done to solve it.
Main reason behind the problem is discrimination like: –
- Rich-Pore
- Upper cast-Low cast
- Male-Female
- Literate- Illiterate

Solutions are: –
- In community everyone should educate and earn.
- Eliminate caste discrimination in community.
- Giving equal rights and opportunity in every field to both men and women.
- Giving equal respect to both literate and illiterate people. The literate people advance in his education work and uneducated people are also ahead in other activities.
Four groups of members presented their thoughts on their topics. Then Mr. Dola Gobinda Dash discussed the topic and highlighted that a lack of togetherness, lack of equality is contributing factor to poverty and illiterate.

After training session, Cultural program was started in which YUW Members are actively performed in dance and song. Then appreciation Certificate to YUW members.

At last of the program Ms. Sabita Rout (Community Trainer) gave heartfelt vote of thanks to all participant.
